The event featured the EPT Grand Final structure 30,000 chips and a 60 minute clock day 1 increasing to 75 minutes days 2 and 3, tremendous value compared to the €10,000 it would normally cost to play.

This attracted some of the UK's top pros such as Dave Colclough, Surinder Sunar, Neil Channing, Karl Marenholz, Jon Kalmar and both "Flushes", James "Flushy" Dempsey and Luke "Full Flush1" Schwartz, but not one of these illustrious players were destined to even cash.

At the end of day 1 well known circuit pro Steve Jelinek led the pack chasing the £93,113 first prize with 204,800, our eventual winner Nottingham based and DTD regular Waheed Ashraf, better known as Wadey ended day 1 in 41st place of the 133 remaining with 81,400.

By the end of day 2 just 21 players remained, our chip leader Dean Pearson had 941,000 with Wadey in second place on 869,000 more than a 10 fold increase, close behind was Paul Ratchford with 756,000.

Even with the deep stacks in play having reached the money at 27 play was fast and furious, our day 1 chip leader Steve Jelinek going out 21st for £1500. Within 3 hours we were down to the final 9, this of course meant that with an average stack of 1,000,000 and blinds at just 10,000-20,000 we could expect a long final.

Our top 3 chip leaders at the start of the day had all made it to the final with Wadey chip leader on 1,770,000 closely followed by Paul Ratchford with 1,700,000 and in third place Mad Turk with 1,130,000. The remaining finalists were Ashrique Miah, Dean Pearson, Chris Saleh, Stephen Eames, Craig MacCorkell and Malcolm Muskett.

Mad Turk lived up to his name trying to win the whole event but when his AA got cracked by Stephen Eames TT he went into overdrive raising every pot and calling raises pre flop, this led to him seesawing from a low of 500,000 to 1,600,000 when he knocked out Chris Saleh having called a first position raise with 67s in the small blind and leading out on the 6 7 J flop that held two hearts to match the AKh that Chris had, all the chips went in and Turks two pair stood up.

Eventually we were down to 4 players and a deal was agreed based on chip counts that guaranteed Turk £50,000, Ashrique £29,000, Paul £45,000 and Wadey still our chip leader with 40% of the chips in play £58,000 with a further £18,000 and the title and trophy to play for.

Almost immediately with a flurry of raise and reraise all Turks chips were in the middle called by Wadey, without a doubt the key hand of the final. The deal had nothing to do with this as both players had genuine hands Wadey AK v Turks QQ, the final was being commentated live by DTD's host Simon Trumper and as the first card of the flop revealed an A a huge roar went up in the club, the rest of the flop was A K leaving Turk drawing dead to QQ and he exited in 4th receiving £27,000 more than the official 4th prize.

Paul then took out Ashrique when he flopped a set v Ashriques turned Royal Flush draw and we were heads up, Wadey had 6,500,000 to Pauls 2,500,000 with blinds 25,000 50,000. Wadey had won his seat in a DTD online satellite for £80, Paul had won a point's based leaderboard over 30 online tournaments and had decided to fly over from Vancouver and play this event as the start of his holiday, what a result!

It was now nearly midnight and having played for 10 hours when Wadey suggested a generous split of the remaining £18,000 ( £10,000 / £8000 ) that increased Pauls winnings to £53,000 he was delighted to accept and Wadey became the deserved winner of the Monte Carlo event receiving £68,000.

Everyone that played the Monte Carlo raved about the structure and after their first £250,000 event in May that had a £56,000 overlay DTD were also delighted with the turnout and look forward to making this an annual event.

In light of the recent news that Grosvenor have scheduled their European Poker Championships for the 21st September to 11th October 2009 and London Clubs have scheduled their EWSOP for the 18th September – 30th September 2009, we have moved our £250K GTD Monte Carlo event to December 16th – 20th 2009, this means that our Bellagio event will now be rescheduled in 2010, date depending on the 2010 poker calendar.

Pro Player, Daniel says: "Happy Days! It's a great result, the best I've had before, I'll be off to Vegas now!"

The players were all treated to a huge £71,000 overlay and an extremely well structured tournament offering 20,000 chips and a two-hour clock, making it the best value tournament in the UK.

The five-day event started on Wednesday May 27th and reached a final table of nine players Saturday May 30th:

Fifteen minutes in the final table suffered its first causality. Danny Toffel raises and gets two callers, Will Martin and James Mitchell. Flop comes K T 9, Danny bets, Will re-raises and James passes. Danny shoves and Martin calls. Danny turns over TT for the trips while Martin turns over top two pair KT. A cruel K on the river though sent Danny Toffel out in 9th with £5,000.

The next victim came 30 minutes later when short-stacked Fido found AK and shoved all in to be called by Dan Nutt holding 33. A 3 on the flop wiped out all hope for Fido and he was sent home in 8th for £6,250.

Not long later Mo and Peter Charalambous get into a massive raising war pre-flop with both putting 100K in the middle. Flop comes 4 T 8, Mo shoves allin and Peter calls. Mo turns over AK and Peter shows AA, no miracle comes and Mo is out in 7th for £8,750.

Despite play continuing for several hours no more players were knocked out on Saturday due to the low blinds and large chip stacks. Play was reconvened at 2pm Sunday.

The day started with a bang with an allin and a call in the very first hand. James Mitchell went allin with 99 and was called by Pete Charalambous holding QQ. A flop of 6 7 8 gave Jim hope but he failed to hit a nine or make his straight, for coming 6th he wins £11,250.

Play slowed down after this with no obvious short stack with not a single player being knocked out for six hours. Tassos yo-yoed a bit going up and down getting particularly unlucky in one hand with Pete Conduit when Pete cracked Tassos trip fours by hitting his gut shot on the river. However with careful betting he kept himself in the game by doubling up at the right times.

Despite Pete's earlier luck it all went downhill from there with every raise being re-rasied forcing him to fold his hands and get dwindled down in chips. Eventually he was forced to push allin with A4 and was quickly called by Will who turned over 99. No ace came and Pete was out in 5th position for a cool £15,000.

Again due to the deep stacks play slowed down. Though there was plenty of action pre-flop all the players are usually folding before they see the flop. It would be another four hours until the game had another victim. Despite some earlier success Will had started to lose a sizeable amount of his stack in moderate sized pots where he was forced to lay down.

At shortly after midnight Tassos raised 60K and was called by Will. The flop came T 5 4 (2 spades), Will leads out for 100K and Tassos shoves, Will instantly calls showing KT offsuit. Tassos shows KJ of spades giving him one over to hit and any spade. The three of spades on the turn makes the river irrelevant and Will leaves the tournament in 4th for £20,000.

Chip count for the remaining three players is:

Pete - 1.8 million
Tassos - 1.2 million
Dan - 800,000

Despite being the little stack Dan plays aggressively and takes Tassos off several pots bringing him up to 1.3 mil and Tassos down to 700K. It looks like things have come unstuck for Dan though when after battling pre-flop both him and Tassos are allin and Tassos shows the AK whilst Dan is a massive underdog with AQ.

Straight on the flop though comes Q 9 9 and no K comes on the board to save Tassos effectively knocking him out the tourney in 3rd for £28,500.

Heads up Pete has 1.8 million and Dan holds a slight edge with 2.1 million. No deal was agreed and play continued for another half hour. Dan was the clear aggressor raising most pots but though he picked up several small ones Pete was gaining him by winning a few big ones.

In the end like in many heads up matches it came down to one hand. Dan bet out from the button and was raised by Pete, Dan re-raised and Pete came back over the top, Dan goes allin and is instantly called by Pete.

Pete turned over JJ whilst Dan showed K8 spades. Pete managed to avoid the K but runner runner spade gave Dan the flush and 98% of the chips in play. Massively short stacked Pete was allin two hands later and was knocked out of the tournament. Making Daniel Nutt the DTD Main Event Champion winning £81,250 and Pete Charalambous the runner up taking home £47,500.

Rob Yong, Owner of Dusk Till Dawn, says: "It's been a total disaster. We've lost a lot of players due to the FA cup, upcoming poker events and the very good weather."

The Dusk Till Dawn Main Event Tournament cost £1000 to enter and had a guaranteed prize pool of £250,000. On the day though only 194 players turned up resulting in a loss of £56,000 however the club also took a £15,000 loss on an online satellite at dtdpoker.com where it guaranteed 50 seats.

The lower then expected turn out and fantastic structure though was great news for the players.

Each player was given 20,000 chips with blind increase going up only every two hours. The event originally had a cap of 405 players but despite having only half that the club had no trouble filling the five-day event.

Simon Trumper, Poker Manager of DTD, says: "I'm a little disappointed by the turnout but all the players have been raving about how they haven't seen a structure as great as this in a long time."
